EMPHASIS: Troop I To Conduct Special Enforcement Operations During The Labor Day Weekend

Captain Eddie A. Blaylock, commanding officer of Troop I, announces that during the 2019 Labor Day weekend, troopers assigned to Troop I, will conduct several enforcement operations in Troop I. There will be two DWI saturations conducted during the holiday weekend, one in Phelps County and one in Crawford County.

Troopers assigned to these DWI saturations, will focus their enforcement efforts on the detection and removal of impaired drivers. Troopers will concentrate their efforts in areas where driving while intoxicated arrests and crashes involving impaired drivers have occurred in the past.

Troop I troopers will also conduct several enforcement operations during the two peak travel days of August 30 and September 2, 2019. Troopers assigned to these operations will focus on violations related to distracted, impaired, and aggressive driving. There will be strict enforcement of the speed and seat belt laws.

Captain Blaylock would like to remind travelers to designate a sober driver if your holiday plans include alcohol. Captain Blaylock also reminds the public that emergencies on the road or the water can be reported by dialing *55 on a cellular telephone.

The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
“Don’t Violate The Trust.”
