EMPHASIS: Warrensburg, MO, Man Arrested/Charged For Child Sex Crimes and Drug Possession

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC) announces the arrest of Adam W. Patton, 46, of Warrensburg, MO, for child sex crimes. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Special Victims Unit (SVU) with the assistance of the Missouri Digital Forensic Center (MDFC).

In July 2026, SVU investigators were conducting an online investigation for offenders sharing child pornography over the internet. Investigators identified an IP address as being of investigative interest to child sexual abuse material (CSAM) investigations. After further investigation, it was determined the IP address was associated with Patton. Investigators requested a search warrant for Patton’s residence.

On September 17, 2026, investigators executed the search warrant at a residence in Warrensburg, MO. During the search of the residence, evidence of CSAM was located on an electronic device. Investigators also located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the premises. As a result, Patton was arrested and transported to the Johnson County Jail. Later the same day, the Johnson County Prosecuting Attorney formally charged Patton with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was held at Johnson County Jail with the initial bond set at $15,000.00.

On September 21, 2026, the Johnson County Prosecutor filed four additional charges for Possession of CSAM. He continues to be held at the Johnson County Jail with an increased bond of $75,000.00.

DDCC encourages internet users to promptly report to the Patrol or local law enforcement anyone who attempts to engage in unwanted, inappropriate, or sexualized communications with children.

The charges for which the above individual was arrested are mere accusations and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

To support the Department of Public Safety’s mission to protect children, SVU and MDFC remain dedicated to investigating CSAM offenses. Follow the Missouri State Highway Patrol on X @MSHPTrooperDDCC
