EMPHASIS: Church Security
Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee's Summit, would like to announce a unique opportunity for church leadership. Each week, often on Sunday morning, many Americans choose to attend a church in the domination of their choice. For generations, church services have been considered a safe haven for worship. However, throughout the country, and more specifically Missouri, the need for churches to enhance their security measures has been magnified. The Missouri State Highway Patrol has developed a church security program to provide helpful guidelines for churches who may be interested in this topic. The program includes a wide range of possibilities for all types of churches.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is teaming up with Lee's Summit Community Church in an effort to bring those security measures to those in church leadership positions. We are inviting all Kansas City area churches to participate in this free and unique training session. The invitation is for pastors, staff, ushers, elders, deacons, or others who have leadership roles within a church. Space is limited, so only those who would respond to an emergency should attend. It is expected that this training session will be filled, so please RSVP with how many will attend. The seminar will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., on May 16, 2010, at Lee's Summit Community Church.
To reserve a seat please contact Lee's Summit Community Church Executive Pastor Mike Knight at 816-524-6786 or on-line at info@lscckc.org. Another contact is Corporal Bill Lowe at 816-622-0800 or on-line at william.lowe@mshp.dps.mo.gov.
