EMPHASIS: Fourth Annual Corporal Jay Sampietro Memorial Toy Drive Begins!

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer, Troop D, announces the kickoff of the Fourth Annual Corporal Jay Sampietro Memorial Toy Drive. The drive is a cooperative effort between the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, the Children’s Miracle Network of CoxHealth, and the citizens we serve. The toy drive is designed to brighten the holiday for children who are forced to spend the Christmas season in the hospital. Troopers will personally deliver all donated toys to children in the CoxHealth Pediatric Unit during the month of December.
Toy donations may be made at all Springfield/Branson area Krispy Kreme Doughnut stores. Krispy Kreme will give away a dozen original glazed doughnuts to anyone who donates a new toy, book, or game valued at $10 or more. Collection of toys begins Friday, November 26, and will conclude Friday, December 17, 2010. This toy drive is in remembrance of Corporal Jay Sampietro, who died in the line of duty in 2005.
Captain Villanueva states, “The Patrol is honored to participate and bring a little bit of joy and happiness to sick children that are in the hospital during the Christmas holidays.”
