EMPHASIS: Captain Michael V. Meyer Retires September 1, 2014

Colonel Ron Replogle, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the following retirement:

Captain Michael V. Meyer, director of the Governor's Security Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, MO, is retiring effective September 1, 2014, after 33 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Missouri.

Captain Meyer was appointed to the Patrol on January 5, 1981, as a member of the 54th Recruit Class. Upon graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop C, Zone 7, Pike and Lincoln counties. He transferred to Troop B, Macon, MO, on May 1, 1990. Meyer was promoted to the rank of corporal on September 1, 1990, and designated assistant zone supervisor of Zone 4, Milan, MO. He transferred to the Division of Drug & Crime Control, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, MO, on January 1, 1992. He was promoted to sergeant on January 1, 1998. He transferred to the Governor's Security Division on November 1, 1999. Meyer was designated assistant director of that division on June 1, 2001. While serving in the Governor's Security Division, he was promoted to lieutenant and designated division director on October 15, 2006. He was promoted to captain on August 1, 2011, and remained in the Governor's Security Division as director. It is from this position that Capt. Meyer retires.

Captain Meyer grew up in St. Charles, MO. He graduated from Duchesne High School in St. Charles, MO, in 1974. He earned a bachelor's of science degree in law enforcement from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman University) in Kirksville, in 1979. Capt. Meyer is married to Shelley (Fryrear) and they have three children.
