EMPHASIS: Results Of Troop E DWI Saturations

Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, announces the results of DWI saturations conducted in Troop E, which began on May 1, 2009, at 11 p.m. and ended on May 2, 2009, at 3 a.m. During the operation, troopers were assigned to conduct saturations at locations known to have a high number of alcohol-related arrests and traffic crashes.
Troopers made 13 arrests during the shift: six driving while intoxicated arrests, one felony driving while intoxicated arrest, two misdemeanor drug arrests, and four minor in possession arrests. Traffic citations issued by officers included 12 for seat belt violations, 10 citations for speed, three for no driver’s license, four hazardous moving violations, nine non-moving violations, and one uninsured motorist violation. Troopers also issued 93 warnings for various other traffic violations during the operation.
Captain Ridens stated, “The impaired driver continues to be a major contributor to serious traffic crashes in southeast Missouri. DWI saturations are a part of the Patrol’s effort to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri roadways. The troopers in the Troop E area will continue to pursue this goal.”
