At approximately 7:00 a.m. on March 5, 2017, a state trooper stopped a southbound 2003 Nissan Sentra on Interstate 29 at the 63 mile marker in Andrew County. Circumstances led to the trooper conducting a probable cause search of the vehicle. The search revealed eight pounds of marijuana, ecstasy pills, and $5000 dollars in US Currency.
The driver, Michael L. Nelson, 22, of Nebraska, and passenger Miya A. Jackson, 20, of California, were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and second degree drug trafficking. The suspects were transported to the Andrew County Sheriff’s Department in Savannah, MO.
The charges for which the above persons were arrested are mere accusations and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the above charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
