EMPHASIS: Traffic Stop On Interstate-55 Results In Drug Arrest




On February 28, 2008, at approximately 3:04 a.m. a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol stopped a 2009 Chevrolet Impala traveling north on Interstate 55 in Cape Girardeau County for a traffic violation. Levan M. Johnson, 34, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, was the driver of the vehicle stopped for a traffic violation. During the course of the traffic stop, Johnson fled the scene in his vehicle and a pursuit ensued, ending on Good Hope Street in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Johnson was arrested for possession of marijuana, driving while intoxicated persistent offender, and resisting arrest by fleeing.

The charges for which Levan M. Johnson was arrested are mere accusation and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
