EMPHASIS: Sergeant Travis L. Williams Promoted To Lieutenant

Captain Shawn P. Skoglund, commanding officer of Troop H, St. Joseph, Missouri, is pleased to announce the promotion of Sergeant Travis L. Williams. The promotion is effective October 1, 2023. Lieutenant Williams is a 25-year veteran with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Williams was appointed to the Patrol on February 1, 1998, as a member of the 75th Recruit Class. Upon completing his training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop H, Zone 7, Caldwell and Clinton counties. In 2000, he transferred to Zone 2, Nodaway and Worth counties. In 2008, Williams was promoted corporal and served as the assistant zone supervisor in Zone 5, Andrew and Buchanan counties. In 2015, he was promoted to sergeant and designated zone supervisor of Zone 3, Gentry and Harrison counties. In 2018, Williams transferred to Zone 6, Andrew and Buchanan counties. In 2019, he transferred to the Division of Drug and Crime Control, Troop H Unit, as a criminal investigator. Williams was named supervisor of the Criminal Investigation Unit serving the Troop H area in 2023.

Lieutenant Williams was born in St. Joseph and graduated from Benton High School. He attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. Lieutenant Williams is married to Marlie, and they have two children, Wyatt and Taylor.
