EMPHASIS: Troop E Spotcheck Results Announced

Captain Jeffrey N. Vitale, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Stoddard County. The checkpoint was held on April 1, 2017, and a total of 234 vehicles were stopped during the four-hour operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made the following enforcement contacts:

1 -- Driving While Intoxicated Arrest

10 -- Seat Belt Summonses
6 -- No Driver’s License Summonses
45 -- Warnings

6 -- Misdemeanor Drug Arrests

The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated. To report a suspected impaired driver, dial 9-1-1 or *55 on a cellular device. The Dexter Police Department and the Missouri Department of Transportation assisted in the spotcheck.
The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober. “Don’t Violate The Trust.”
