EMPHASIS: Maryville, Missouri Man Arrested For Possession And Promoting Child Pornography
The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control announces the arrest of Craig A. Roberts, 53, of Maryville, Missouri. Roberts was arrested on July 11, 2024, for possession and promoting child pornography, following an investigation by the Special Victims Unit of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control. The Maryville Department of Public Safety assisted in the investigation.
In April of 2024, investigators identified an IP address associated with Craig A. Roberts, of Maryville, Missouri, as being of investigative interest in an active child pornography investigation. On July 11, 2024, investigators conducted a search of Roberts’ Maryville, Missouri residence, pursuant to a Nodaway County search warrant. While searching the residence, investigators located Roberts’ computer and conducted an examination, which revealed multiple digital files of child pornography. Also located during the search of Roberts’ residence was a crystallized substance, identified as methamphetamine. Roberts was arrested and transported to the Nodaway County Jail where he was held, pending the filing of formal charges. On July 11, 2024, the Nodaway County Prosecuting Attorney formally charged Roberts with one count of possession of child pornography, one count of promoting child pornography, and one count of possession of a controlled substance. Roberts is currently being held in the Nodaway County jail, with a $75,000.00 bond.
The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
The Division of Drug and Crime Control encourages internet users to promptly report to the Patrol or local law enforcement anyone who attempts to engage in unwanted, inappropriate, or sexualized communications with children.
