EMPHASIS: Lieutenant Bruce Clemonds Retires

Colonel Ron Replogle, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the retirement of Lieutenant Bruce T. Clemonds effective April 1, 2010, after over 29 years of dedicated service.

Clemonds was appointed to the Patrol on January 5, 1981. Upon completing his training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop C, Zone 6, Warren County. In 1989, he transferred to the Division of Drug and Crime Control, General Headquarters, and was assigned to St. Joseph, as a polygraph examiner and criminal investigator. In 1995, Clemonds transferred to Troop B, Zone 6, Clark and Scotland counties. After an internship in 1997, he was assigned to the Field Operations Bureau, General Headquarters, where he served as grants projects specialist. He was promoted to corporal in 2001, sergeant in 2003, lieutenant in 2006, and remained in his Field Operations Bureau assignment. In 2006, Clemonds was designated homeland security liaison assigned to the Field Operations Bureau.

Lieutenant Clemonds was born in St. Louis, MO. He graduated from Montgomery County R-II High School in 1973. In 1987, he earned a bachelor’s of science degree in business management from Tarkio College. Lt. Clemonds served in the Missouri Army National Guard, from March 1974 to August 1994, as a military police officer. He retired from the National Guard holding the rank of major. Lt. Clemonds and his wife, Denise, have three grown children and four grandchildren: Jennifer Weed and grandsons Andrew and William; Jessica Spears and granddaughter Alexandra (Lexi); and Bruce Clemonds III and grandson Tyler.
