EMPHASIS: Arrest Made In Cattle Theft Investigation

Captain Luke Vislay, director of the Division of Drug and Crime Patrol of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the arrest of Donald C. Vanderwalle, 67, of Bruning, NE, as a result of a cattle theft investigation conducted by the Rural Crimes Investigative Unit of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Vanderwalle was arrested in Bruning, NE, on December 22, 2009, for two counts of stealing livestock, which is a Class C felony. The thefts occurred on October 20, 2009, and November 3, 2009, in Crawford County, MO, and involved 60 head of cattle being stolen from the Interstate Livestock Auction in Cuba, MO. Currently, Vanderwalle is being held in the Thayer County, NE, jail on a $40,000 bond.

The above charges for which Vanderwalle was arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is a participating agency of the Livestock and Farm Protection Task Force formed by Governor Jay Nixon in September 2009.
