EMPHASIS: Annual Corporal Michael Webster Blood Drive At Troop C Headquarters

Captain Kevin W. Malugen, commanding officer of Troop C, announces the Annual Corporal Michael Webster Memorial Blood Drive. The blood drive will be held from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Troop C Headquarters, 891 Technology Drive, Weldon Spring, MO 63304.

The blood drive is an annual event held to raise awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. Corporal Webster was killed on October 2, 1993, by a drunk driver while standing next to a vehicle he had stopped for a traffic violation. The Patrol, along with the Impact Life Blood Center of St. Louis, hosts the blood drive to emphasize the seriousness associated with alcohol-related traffic crashes. Blood is an essential element that may help to save the life of someone who has been involved in a traffic crash. Alcohol was involved in 5,102 traffic crashes and 151 fatal traffic crashes during 2022. Drunk drivers injured more than 1,938 persons and killed 151 persons in traffic crashes last year.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the employees of Troop C would like to invite the public to come to Troop C Headquarters and donate blood. Appointments to donate blood can be made online at
www.bloodcenter.org/group and use Group number 11260.

Far too many people die in traffic crashes each year in Missouri. The choices you make when you’re behind the wheel matter. Make good choices, so you’ll never have to say, “If I could just go back ...”
