EMPHASIS: Missouri State Highway Patrol Reaccredited

The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) awarded advanced accreditation to the Missouri State Highway Patrol at its fall conference banquet in Miami, FL, on Saturday evening, November 21, 2015. This marks the eighth time the Patrol has successfully been reviewed and approved for accreditation. The Patrol has maintained its accredited status since 1992, when it became the 11th state law enforcement agency to become accredited by CALEA.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol successfully completed a gold standard assessment process, which focuses primarily on processes and outcomes associated with standards specific to agency policies.

“The Missouri State Highway Patrol believes the public deserves the highest quality of service and, therefore, adheres to the internationally recognized CALEA standards,” said Colonel J. Bret Johnson, superintendent of the Patrol. “These standards guide the agency as it implements its policing strategies of traffic safety and service, waterway safety, crimes against persons and property, advancing available technology, and sound departmental management through building community partnerships. The distinction of being recommended for accreditation for the eighth time reflects the sustained, successful implementation of these strategies and the level of dedication of Patrol employees as they serve and protect the public. On behalf of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, I want to thank our esteemed colleagues within CALEA. We look forward to continuing this partnership.”

Approximately 1,000 agencies from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Barbados participate in CALEA accreditation processes. Twenty-two Missouri law enforcement agencies participate in the CALEA process.
