EMPHASIS: Crime Laboratory Division Director William E. Marbaker To Retire January 1, 2018

Colonel Sandra K. Karsten, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol announces the following retirement effective January 1, 2018:

Mr. William E. Marbaker, director of the Crime Laboratory Division, will retire after 39 1/2 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Missouri. Marbaker joined the Patrol on July 1, 1978, as a forensic chemist. He was promoted to criminalist supervisor on March 1, 1995. He was named assistant director of the Crime Laboratory Division on June 16, 2001. In 2006-2007, Marbaker served as president of the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD). He became director of the Crime Laboratory Division on August 1, 2008.

Mr. Marbaker was born in St. Louis, MO, and graduated from St. Louis University High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO, in 1978. Mr. Marbaker and his wife, Jane, have two grown children: Erin and Andrew. They reside in Jefferson City, MO.
