EMPHASIS: Patrol Assists ATF In Federal Search Warrant Resulting In One Arrest

In the early hours of June 25, 2009, the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) with the execution of a search warrant on the property of Robert N. Joos, of Powell, MO.
The federal search warrant was in connection with prohibited firearms. The Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the apprehension of Joos, who later was charged federally with being a felon in possession of firearms.
The Patrol has a past history of arrests and contact with Robert Joos, due to his anti-government, extremist views. Prior convictions include: simulating legal process, resisting/interference with an arrest, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license (third offense, Class D felony). Joos is also an associate of Timothy Coombs, who is wanted for the felony assault and shooting of Patrol Corporal Bobby J. Harper on September 16, 1994, at Cpl. Harper’s residence in McDonald County.
The ATF investigation in Missouri is related to an ATF investigation in Phoenix, AZ, of a 2004 bombing for which Dennis and Daniel Mahon, of Illinois, were arrested on June 25, 2009.
The charge for which the above person was arrested is a mere accusation and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the above charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
