EMPHASIS: Troop D Announces Promotions

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces the following promotions effective April 1, 2018.

Trooper Timothy A. Barrett is being promoted to the rank of corporal and will remain in his present assignment in the criminal interdiction/canine unit at Troop D. Barrett was appointed to the Missouri State Highway Patrol in January 2007, and after graduating from the Patrol Academy, he was assigned to Troop D, Zone 14, which serves the citizens of Barry County. In April 2010, Barrett transferred to Zone 5, Jasper County, and continued his work as a road officer. In March 2016, he was assigned to Troop D’s criminal interdiction unit as a canine officer. Barrett was born in Joplin, Missouri, and graduated from Carthage High School, Carthage, Missouri, in 2000. He graduated in 2002 from Missouri Southern State University, Joplin, with an associate’s degree in law enforcement. Prior to his appointment with the Patrol in 2006, he was employed as a police officer with the Carthage Police Department. Trooper Barrett is married to Jessica (Ross) of Carthage, and they have three children, Jonah, 9, Jacquelyn, 6, and Jenaveve, 4.

Trooper Eric L. Mueller is being promoted to corporal and designated the assistant zone supervisor of Zone 10, Webster County. Mueller was appointed to the Missouri State Water Patrol on January 4, 2004, and after graduation from the Water Patrol Academy, was assigned to Lake of the Ozarks. Mueller joined the Missouri State Highway Patrol on January 1, 2011, upon the merger of the two agencies, and was assigned to Troop D as a marine operations trooper at Table Rock Lake. On October 1, 2012, Mueller transferred to Zone 12, Christian County, where he has served as a road officer. Mueller was born in Branson, Missouri, and graduated from Branson High School in 1999. He later attended Missouri Southern State University, Joplin, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice. Trooper Mueller is married to Ashley (Ray), and they have one child, Avery, 3.
