EMPHASIS: Troop D Announces Results Of Operation Safe-Ride In Greene County

On Saturday, September 3, 2016, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Patrol’s Aircraft Division, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, conducted a motorcycle enforcement effort, “Operation Safe-Ride,” in Greene County. This saturation is in reaction to growing concerns over aggressive motorcycle driving, additional reported behavior, and traffic violations reflecting unsafe motorcycle operation.

During the effort, officers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol stopped 21 motorcycles/vehicles. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation:

Speed Violations -- 2
Seat Belt Citations -- 3

Hazardous Moving Violations -- 3
Driver License Violations -- 5
Uninsured Motorist Violation -- 1

Traffic Signal Offenses -- 2
Non-Moving Traffic Offenses -- 9
Misdemeanor Warrant Arrest -- 1

Miscellaneous Misdemeanor Arrest -- 1

Officers also issued 23 warnings for various other traffic violations during the operation.

“Aggressive driving is a crime,” said Capt. Villanueva. “Careless behavior on Missouri’s roads and waterways will not be tolerated.”

The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober. “Don’t Violate The Trust.”
