Troop A Announces Promotion
Captain Steve Wilhoit, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee's Summit, announces effective July 1, 2024, Commercial Vehicle Officer Supervisor II, James “Frank” Stone, was promoted to Chief Commercial Vehicle Officer and will transfer from Post A-3 to Troop A Headquarters.
Stone started his employment with the Patrol on September 1, 1998. Upon graduating from the Commercial Vehicle Officer training, at the Patorl’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop A, Post A-3, in Lafayette County. On March 6, 2005, Stone was promoted to Supervisor I and transferred to Post A-6 in Jackson County. On May 31, 2015, Stone was promoted to Supervisor II and transferred to Post A-3 in Lafayette County where he remained until his recent promotion.
Chief Stone was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Center High School in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1990. Chief Stone graduated from Police Leadership: The West Point Model in November 2020. Chief Stone is married to Kimberly (Wheaton), and they have two children, Samantha and Josh.
