EMPHASIS: 10 New Troopers Assigned To Troop C

Captain Ryan A. Burckhardt, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the assignment of 10 new troopers to Troop C. The new troopers were members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 112th Recruit Class and graduated from the Patrol Academy on January 12, 2022. The new troopers from the 112th Recruit Class will report for duty on January 31, 2022.

Trooper Markus G. Burns, a native of Windsor, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 7, serving the citizens of Warren County. Trooper Burns is a 2011 graduate of Windsor High School in Windsor, Missouri. Trooper Burns served as an airborne infantryman in the United States Army from April 2012 to July 2017. He then joined the U.S. Army Reserves where he holds the rank of sergeant.

Trooper Lane C. Coleman, a native of Farmington, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 8, serving the citizens of St. Charles County. Trooper Coleman is a 2017 graduate of Ash Grove High School, in Ash Grove, Missouri. After graduation he attended Missouri State University and majored in criminal justice. Prior to his employment with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Trooper Coleman served as a deputy sheriff for the Christian County Missouri Sheriff’s Department.

Trooper Brandon T. Dorf, a native of Washington, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 10, serving the citizens of Franklin County. Trooper Dorf is a 2017 graduate of Christian Brothers College High School in Washington, Missouri. After graduation, Trooper Dorf attended Missouri State University where he recieved a Bachelor of Science degree in criminology in 2021.

Trooper Nathan W. Downs, a native of Troy, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 9, serving the citizens of St. Charles County. Trooper Downs is a 2009 graduate of Troy Buchanan High School in Troy, Missouri. After high school, Trooper Downs attended Hannibal LaGrange University in Hannibal, Missouri where he majored in psycology.

Trooper Brent W. Katzing, a native of Sedalia, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 9, serving the citizens of St. Charles County. Trooper Katzing is a 2008 graduate of Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia, Missouri. After graduation, Trooper Katzing attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education in 2012.
Trooper Maurice Lang Jr., a native of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 2, serving the citizens of North St. Louis County. Trooper Lang is a 2013 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. After graduation, Trooper Lang attended Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice in 2017. Prior to employment with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Trooper Lang was a police officer for the Raymore Police Department in Raymore, Missouri.

Trooper Patrick B. Martin, a native of Jacksonville, Illinois, has been assigned to Zone 10, serving the citizens of Franklin County. Trooper Martin is a 2012 graduate of Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, Illinois. After graduation, Trooper Martin attended the University of Illinois at Springfield in Springfield, Illinois, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in accountancy and a Bachelor of Arts in business administration in 2016.

Trooper Tyson O. Murphy, a native of Idaho Falls, Idaho, has been assigned to Zone 1, serving the citizens of North St. Louis County. Trooper Murphy is a 2008 graduate of Bonneville High School in Idaho Falls, Idaho. After graduation, Trooper Murphy attended Brigham Young University, in Rexburg, Idaho, where he recieved a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry in 2018. Prior to employment with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Trooper Murphy was a deputy for the Boone County Sheriff’s Office in Columbia, Missouri. Trooper Murphy is married to Sarah Murphy and they have a son named Steel Murphy.

Trooper Collin J. Nichols, a native of Troy, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 7, serving the citizens of Warren County. Trooper Nichols is a 2019 graduate of Troy Buchanan High School in Troy, Missouri. After high school, Trooper Nichols attended Lincoln Univesity in Jefferson City.

Trooper Joshua T. Parrott, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 8, serving the citizens of St. Charles County. Trooper Parrott is a 2011 graduate of Staley High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Prior to his employment with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Trooper Parrott was a police officer for the Leavenworth Police Department, in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Far too many people die in traffic crashes each year in Missouri. The choices you make when you’re behind the wheel matter. Make good choices, so you’ll never have to say, “If I could just go back ...”
