EMPHASIS: New Troopers Assigned To Troop H

Captain Shawn P. Skoglund, commanding officer of Troop H, is pleased to announce the assignment of two new troopers to Troop H. The new troopers were members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 115th Recruit Class that graduated from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy on December 22, 2022. The new troopers will report for duty on January 9, 2023.

Trooper Joshua M. Tanner, of Saint Charles, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 10, which serves the citizens of Daviess and DeKalb counties. In 2018, Trooper Tanner graduated from Francis Howell North High School in St. Charles, Missouri. Trooper Tanner graduated from Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice, and a Bachelor of Science in sociology. Trooper Tanner's field training officer will be Trooper Joshua H. Thompson.

Trooper Russell A. Matthews, of Fredericktown, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 1, which serves the citizens of Atchison and Holt counties. In 2020, Trooper Matthews graduated from Fredericktown High School in Fredericktown, Missouri. Prior to joining the Patrol, he worked as a Madison County, Missouri, Sheriff’s Office corrections officer. Trooper Matthews' field training officer will be Corporal Tyler L. Shupe.
