EMPHASIS: Missouri State Highway Patrol assists St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department

Colonel Sandra K. Karsten, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, today announced the Highway Patrol is assisting the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department following the verdict in the Stockley case.

The Patrol is charged with protecting interstates and keeping them open. Interfering with traffic presents a tremendous public safety hazard to pedestrians, motorists, and law enforcement. The Patrol will also be assisting local agencies in maintaining public safety in areas if requested.

“Every trooper takes an oath to uphold the Constitution, which ensures the right to free speech,” Colonel Karsten said. “Our mission is to protect the right to peaceful free speech and to protect lives and property. Our troopers are committed to this mission.”
