EMPHASIS: Statement From Colonel Ronald K. Replogle, Superintendent Of The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Regarding The Brandon Ellingson Drowning

"First let me say that our thoughts and prayers go out to the Ellingson family on the loss of their son, Brandon," said Colonel Ronald K. Replogle, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. "This was a tragic event and many lives, including the family, officers, and witnesses, have been dramatically affected and changed forever.
Today, the Patrol received a letter from special prosecutor in the case Amanda Grellner, which indicated that no criminal charges will be pursued against Trooper A.C. Piercy in the May 31, 2014, in custody, drowning death of Brandon Ellingson, following his arrest for boating while intoxicated. With the prosecutor's decision, all open records regarding the investigation are now available and can be obtained through the Patrol's Custodian of Records. The death investigation report will contain the specifics of this case.
As with any critical event, I wanted to personally assure the public the Patrol will continue the review of all procedures related to this incident.
Again, I want to extend my sincerest condolences to the Ellingson family for the tragedy they have endured with the loss of their son."
