EMPHASIS: Scott County Man Arrested After Murder-For-Hire Investigation

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control announces the arrest of Samuel W. Lix, 24, of Chaffee, Missouri, for conspiracy to commit murder. On August 17, 2017, the Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force concluded a joint investigation into a plot to kill a Benton, Missouri, resident. During the investigation, Samuel W. Lix, 24, of Chaffee, solicited an undercover state trooper to murder a family member. Lix was arrested without incident at his residence, in the 400 block of Cook Avenue, in Chaffee, on Thursday. The Patrol was assisted by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Chaffee Police Department.
On Friday, August 18, 2017, the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office formally charged Lix with conspiracy to commit murder--first degree and endangering the welfare of a child. Bond was set at $250,000.
The above charges are mere accusation and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
