EMPHASIS: Benjamin Renick Homicide Investigation Results In Two Arrests
The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrests of two people in connection with the 2017 murder of Benjamin “Ben” Renick, 29, of New Florence, Missouri.

In the evening hours of June 8, 2017, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office received a report of a deceased person at Renick’s Reptiles, in New Florence. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered a male subject, later identified as Benjamin Renick, deceased in the building. An examination of the body revealed that Renick had died from a gunshot wound. Investigators from the Troop F Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office began a joint homicide investigation.

On January 16, 2020, Lynlee J. Renick, 31, and Michael K. Humphrey, 35, were arrested by investigators as a result of the investigation. Renick was arrested at 12:01 p.m., at a residence in Columbia, Missouri, and Humphrey was arrested at 6:45 p.m. at a residence in Jefferson City. Both subjects were taken into custody without incident. Renick and Humphrey are being held without bond in the Montgomery County Jail on charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

The charges for which the above individuals were arrested are mere accusations and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the above charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
