EMPHASIS: Sgt. Ethan P. Ahern Designated As Patrol’s Emergency Preparedness Coordinator

Colonel Ron Replogle, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces effective April 1, 2010, Sergeant Ethan P. Ahern transferred to the Field Operations Bureau at General Headquarters, Jefferson City, and was designated emergency preparedness coordinator for the Patrol. Ahern is a 13-year veteran of the Patrol.

As the Patrol’s emergency preparedness coordinator, Sgt. Ahern will provide coordination and guidance in all areas of disaster preparedness, prevention, and response for the Patrol as it relates to natural and man-made disasters, and terrorist events. He will review emergency response plans for each component of the Patrol. serve as a liaison to other government agencies, and coordinate necessary emergency management training.

Ahern was appointed to the Patrol on July 1, 1996, as a member of the 72nd Recruit Class. Upon completing his training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City, he was assigned to Troop A, Clay County. In 2001, he transferred to the Division of Drug and Crime Control, General Headquarters. Ahern was promoted to corporal in 2003, and sergeant in 2005.

Ahern was born in Quincy, IL. He graduated from Montgomery County R-II High School in Montgomery City, MO, in 1990. He earned a bachelor’s of science degree in physical education-sports science from what is now the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO. Sgt. Ahern and his wife, Joy, have two children: Mason, 5, and Sadie, 2. They reside in Hartsburg, MO.
