EMPHASIS: Patrol Turns Up The H.E.A.T.

Colonel James F. Keathley, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the Patrol is joining local and county law enforcement agencies in a High Enforcement Action Team (H.E.A.T.) project. The purpose of the project is to provide additional enforcement activity on Interstate 44 and Interstate 70 during a specific 24-hour period. Troopers will patrol Interstate 44 from 6 a.m., on Saturday, October 17, 2009 through 6 a.m., on Sunday, October 18, 2009. Officers will patrol Interstate 70 from 6 a.m., on Friday, October 23, 2009, through 6 a.m., on Saturday, October 24, 2009.

“Troopers will aggressively enforce those traffic laws pertaining to speed, impaired driving, seat belt use, and other hazardous moving violations,” said Colonel Keathley. “Missouri has shown a reduction in the number of fatality traffic crashes in recent years. We believe active traffic enforcement programs such as H.E.A.T. play an important role in why these reductions occur.”
