EMPHASIS: Patrol Commissions 94th Recruit Class

Thirty Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers graduated from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy today in Jefferson City, MO. They will report for duty on January 2, 2012. The 94th Recruit Class reported to the Academy on July 1, 2011. Graduation ceremonies for the 94th Recruit Class were held at 10 a.m. today in the gymnasium at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, General Headquarters, Jefferson City.

During today’s graduation ceremony, Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster addressed the class. The Honorable Zel M. Fischer, Missouri Supreme Court, administered the Oath of Office to the new troopers. Mr. Thomas U. Black, of Nelson, Missouri, gave the invocation and benediction. The Troop F Color Guard presented and retired the colors, and Trooper Andrew A. Armstrong, Troop F, sang the national anthem.

Eleven of the new troopers received an associate’s of applied science degree from Mineral Area College based on their course work at the Academy. Dean Gil Kennon, vice president of college affairs for Mineral Area College, was present to confer these degrees.

Four class awards were presented. The recruits accumulated points toward graduation in the categories of physical fitness, firearms, and academics throughout their 24 weeks at the Academy.
