EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Checkpoint In Jackson County On July 30, 2010, And Platte County On July 31, 2010


Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted on Friday evening, July 30, 2010. The checkpoint was a joint effort with the Kansas City Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. The checkpoint was held from 11 p.m. on Friday to 4 a.m. on Saturday and was located at 3719 Independence Avenue. The location was determined by past arrests, incidents, and traffic crashes in the county.

A total of 579 cars were checked during this five-hour operation and members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department, and Jackson County Sheriff's Department made the following arrests:

24 -- DWI
13 -- driver’s license summonses
26 -- misdemeanor warrants
2 -- hazardous moving summonses
19 -- non-moving summonses
5 -- felony drug arrests
3 -- misdemeanor drug arrests
62 -- warnings

Troopers also conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday evening, July 31, 2010. The checkpoint was a joint effort with the Platte County Sheriff's Department. The checkpoint was located on northbound Interstate 29 at the Post A-1 scalehouse, north of Platte City. The location was determined by past arrests, incidents, and traffic crashes in the county.

A total of 924 cars were checked during this five-hour operation and members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Platte County Sheriff's Department made the following arrests:

5 -- DWI
9 -- driver’s license summonses
1 -- misdemeanor warrant arrest
5 -- non-moving summonses
5 -- misdemeanor drug arrests
43 -- warnings
