On November 9, 2010, the Clark County Sheriff's Office received a report of a deceased white male subject that had been found along a roadway near Gregory Landing, in Clark County, Missouri. Upon arrival, Clark County sheriff’s deputies located the deceased individual and the initial investigation determined the death to be of suspicious causes. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control were called to the scene and assisted with the investigation. On November 10, 2010, an autopsy of the body was performed at which time the identity of the deceased individual was determined to be Shawn R. Wright, 40, of Kahoka, Missouri.
On November 11, 2010, the Northeast Missouri Major Case Squad, the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Violent Crimes Support Unit, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations were activated to assist the Clark County Sheriff's Office with the investigation. Numerous investigative leads were established which led to a search warrant being executed in Wayland, Missouri. As a result of the search warrant, two persons of interest were taken into custody on unrelated charges, and they were taken to the Clark County Jail on a 24-hour hold pending further charges.
The investigation is continuing by the Clark County Sheriff's Office and the Northeast Missouri Major Case Squad.
