EMPHASIS: Troop D Announces Results Of Brake Safety Awareness Week

The Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D, in conjunction with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, participated in "Brake Safety Awareness Week,” from September 6-12, 2015. "Brake Safety Awareness Week" is an educational outreach program designed to train companies, drivers, and mechanics about proper brake adjustment limits and air brake system inspections. As a result, 62 truck/trailer combinations were checked. A total of 35 trucks were placed out-of-service, including seven for brakes that were out of adjustment, 18 for faulty brake components, and 10 for other violations.

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Join us in supporting the Drive To Zero Highway Deaths. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
