EMPHASIS: News confernce honoring top DWI enforcers

Captain Vincent J. Ellis, Commanding Officer of Troop A, announces a news conference at Troop A Headquarters at 504 SE Blue Parkway, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64063. The news conference will honor the members of Troop A who made the highest number of driving while intoxicated arrests in 2005. The news conference will take place at 9:00 a. m., on Thursday February 16, 2006. The troopers will be present and their names will be engraved on a plaque recognizing their efforts.

In 2004, 252 people were killed and 5,450 people were injured in crashes that involved drivers who had been drinking. Alcohol has continued to be the third leading cause of traffic crashes in our state. Captain Ellis has made driving while intoxicated arrests an enforcement priority in Troop A. Last year Troop A had 2,318 arrests for driving while intoxicated. While it is tough to quantify how many lives were saved by these efforts, there is no doubt that travel is safer in the Troop A area because of these arrests. Troopers will continue to aggressively enforce the alcohol related statutes and remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri’s highways.

The following troopers distinguished themselves by being the top DWI enforcers in Troop A:

1) Trooper Eric R. Kolb, Clay County, 104 DWI arrests

2) Trooper Michael P. Fennewald, Benton County, 80 DWI arrests

3) Trooper Justin D. Johnston, Jackson County, 71 DWI arrests

4) Trooper Mindy M. Gordon, Jackson County, 65 DWI arrests

5) Sergeant Dale O. Jinkens, Jackson County, 62 DWI arrests

6) Corporal Jon D. Hulse, Jackson County, 61 DWI arrests

7) Trooper Adam V. Dillon, Lafayette County, 58 DWI arrests

8) Trooper Andrew J. Bell, Cass/Jackson Counties, 55 DWI arrests

9) Trooper Shawn M. Campbell, Benton County, 51 DWI arrests

10) Trooper Robert D. Crewse, Carroll County, 51 DWI arrests

11) Trooper Seth D. Isringhausen, Clay County, 51 DWI arrests

Members of the media are invited to attend the brief ceremony honoring these troopers.
