EMPHASIS: Troop D Announces Results Of Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) Enforcement Operations

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces the results of several MCSAP (Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program) commercial vehicle enforcement truck checks during the week of July 16, 2018. The purpose of these efforts was to reduce the number of commercial motor vehicle-related crashes, fatalities, and injuries through aggressive enforcement, education, and safety inspections.

Three separate enforcement projects were conducted last week in Greene, Jasper, Lawrence, and Newton counties. During these operations, commercial vehicle enforcement troopers and commercial vehicle officers inspected 360 commercial vehicles, discovered 767 violations, and issued 72 summonses, while placing 61 vehicles, and 17 drivers out-of-service.

The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober. “Don’t Violate The Trust.” Follow Troop D on Twitter for the most current news @MSHPTrooperD
