Captain Norman A. Murphy, acting commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces upcoming plans for Troop C officers to participate in Operation C.A.R.E. (Crash Awareness & Reduction Effort) and 20-Mile Trooper enforcement programs over the 2017 Labor Day weekend. During Operation C.A.R.E., every available officer will be on the road enforcing traffic laws and assisting motorists. Troop C officers will be conducting a 20-Mile Trooper project on Interstate 70 and Interstate 44 throughout the Troop C area on Friday, September 1, 2017, and Monday, September 4, 2017. During this enforcement program, troopers will be assigned to 20-mile intervals in an effort to step up traffic enforcement with a goal of reducing traffic crashes over the holiday weekend.
“Many people will be traveling on Missouri’s highways during the holiday. We ask motorists to be patient and courteous while traveling during this busy time of the year,” stated Captain Murphy. “Troopers will be enforcing traffic laws and assisting those who are stranded. The troopers assigned to Troop C are committed to making our highways safe for everyone. Please take the job of driving seriously. Do not drink and drive, obey the speed limit, pay attention, and buckle up.”
The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober. “Don’t Violate The Trust.”
