EMPHASIS: Local Trooper wins special recognition award.
On Wednesday November 29, 2006 Missouri State Highway Patrol Corporal Russ Fillipi was recognized and presented an award for his outstanding enforcement efforts to promote highway safety. The presentation was made during an awards ceremony sponsored by the Missouri Division of Highway Safety at an annual traffic safety conference held in St. Louis.
Missouri Department of Transportation's Office of Highway Safety sponsors these annual awards and recognizes recipients in each of the Missouri Department of Transportation’s ten regional districts. Working within each of these ten regions are localized “Blueprint for Safer Roadways” coalitions whose primary mission is to coordinate activities promoting the reduction of traffic crashes causing fatalities and serious physical injuries. Corporal Fillipi was nominated by the Regional District Eight “Blueprint” committee that coordinates highway safety activities within a twelve county region. He won the award based upon his consistent and long-term enforcement of traffic regulations, particularly speed, careless and hazardous driving and driving while impaired. Missouri State Highway Patrol Major Dale Penn presented the award at a luncheon ceremony held at the Adams Mark Hotel in downtown St. Louis before about 300 attendees. Also in attendance were Russ’s wife, Nicole, and their three children, Eric, Sam and Darby.
Russ is a fifteen year member of the Patrol and an assistant zone supervisor in Dallas and Hickory Counties. His responsibilities include supervision of personnel, traffic enforcement, education, and instruction of fellow law enforcement officers. He has continually led by example in DWI arrests, tickets issued and warnings. Corporal Fillipi is respected by his peers and the community and has provided remarkable service through his dedication to safety and attention to the motoring public.
The Patrol is proud of Corporal Fillipi for his service to the community and his outstanding dedication to the Patrol’s mission: “Gentlemen and Ladies who enforce the law and promote safety upon Missouri’s highways.”
