EMPHASIS: 100-Mile Yard Sale Kicks Off This Week; Drivers Urged To Use Caution

The annual 100-mile yard sale that runs from Jackson, MO, to Kennett, MO, is set to kickoff this week. The event is held on Missouri Route 25 and runs through the Memorial Day weekend.

“It’s a fun weekend that people look forward to every year,” said Captain Philip E. Gregory, “but we want the public to remember that there will be more traffic and congestion along the route. We really want drivers to be alert and aware of their surroundings. Sudden stops and pedestrian traffic will increase along the sale route. Additionally, there is an increase in large truck traffic between Jackson and Missouri Route AB in Cape Girardeau County due to road construction.”

Too many people die in traffic crashes each year in Missouri. The choices you make when you’re behind the wheel matter. Make good choices, so you’ll never have to say, “If I could just go back …”
