EMPHASIS:
Troop F Christmas And New Year's Enforcement And Traffic Crash Totals
Captain Michael A. Turner, commanding officer of Troop F, Jefferson City, announces the traffic crash and enforcement totals for both the Christmas and New Year’s counting periods for the Troop F area.
During the Christmas counting period, which began at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016, and ended 11:59 p.m., on Monday, December 26, 2016, Troop F officers investigated 23 traffic crashes, which resulted in six injuries. Eight arrests for driving while intoxicated were made during the holiday period.
During the New Year’s counting period, which began at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016, and ended 11:59 p.m., on Monday, January 2, 2017, Troop F officers investigated 26 traffic crashes, which resulted in 12 injuries and one fatality. Troopers also made nine arrests for driving while intoxicated during the holiday period.
There were no boating incidents or drownings during the counting periods.
“Even though the holiday season has concluded, I urge motorists to always take the job of driving seriously,” said Captain Turner. “Please do your part as you enter the New Year to ensure that you are a safe, courteous, alert driver.”
The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri's roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
"Don't Violate The Trust."
