EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Saturation In Troop E

Captain Jeffrey N. Vitale, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces the results of a DWI saturation conducted in Troop E during the month of December. During the operation, a total of 52 vehicles were stopped. As a result of the enforcement program, a total of 40 arrests were made and 66 warnings were issued. Of the 40 arrests, troopers issued seven summonses for driving while intoxicated, 11 summonses for no seat belt, 13 summonses for non-moving violations, and three summonses for exceeding the posted speed. Two individuals were arrested for a misdemeanor warrant. During the New Year’s Eve counting period, troopers investigated 24 traffic crashes with nine injuries and two fatalities.

“The DWI saturations are very important in making our highways a safer place to travel,” said Capt. Vitale. “The impaired driver continues to be a major contributor to serious traffic crashes in Southeast Missouri. The DWI saturations are a part of the Patrol’s effort to remove impaired drivers from Missouri roadways. The troopers in the Troop E area will continue to pursue this goal.”

The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober. “Don’t Violate The Trust.”
