EMPHASIS: J. Corey Chaney Named Director Of MSHP Communications Division

Colonel Sandra K. Karsten, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the following promotion effective August 1, 2018:

Section Chief J. Corey Chaney, Q/CommD, is being promoted to director of radio and will remain in the Communications Division. As director, he will have oversight responsibilities of the voice and data communications network covering the nine troop headquarters located throughout the state, and the state’s highway emergency hotline. Chaney also will provide technical oversight of state’s MOSWIN system.

Chaney joined the Patrol on January 1, 1993, as a probationary radio and telecommunicator assigned to Troop C, St. Louis (now Weldon Spring), MO. In 1999, he was promoted to assistant chief telecommunications engineer. He became chief telecommunications engineer of Troop C in 2005. Chaney was promoted to section chief and transferred to the Communications Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, in 2007.

Director Chaney grew up in Leavenworth, KS, and graduated from Leavenworth High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in business accounting from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS, in 1987. Director Chaney and his wife, Tanna, have a daughter, Kaitlyn.
