EMPHASIS: Sergeant Kevin W. Malugen Promoted To Lieutenant

Captain Stephen B. Ferrier, commanding officer of Troop C Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the promotion of Sergeant Kevin W. Malugen effective October 1, 2018. Malugen is a 24-year veteran with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Malugen joined the Patrol on July 1, 1994, as a member of the 67th Recruit Class. Upon graduation from the from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City, he was assigned to Troop B, Linn and Chariton counties. In 1997, he transferred to Troop C, Zone 14, serving St. Francois and Washington counties. In 1999, Malugen transferred to the Field Operations Bureau, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, and was assigned to Major Crash Team 4. Malugen was promoted to corporal in 2000, and sergeant in 2003, and remained in that assignment. In 2016, Malugen completed Leadership in Police Organizations training.

Lieutenant Malugen grew up in Potosi, MO. He graduated from Potosi High School in 1986. After graduation, he studied criminal justice at Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Missouri, where he earned an Associate of Science degree in criminal justice. Prior to joining the Patrol, he worked as a police officer for the Potosi Police Department. Lt. Malugen and his wife, Kay, have three children, Jacob, Madison, and Jordan.
