EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Promotions



Captain Randy Becker, Commanding Officer of Troop I, Rolla, announces the following promotions and lateral transfer that will be effective January 9, 2005.



Corporal George W. Arnold will be promoted to the rank of sergeant and designated as the zone commander of Zone 1, which is responsible for Phelps and Maries Counties. Sergeant Arnold is a native of Stoutland, Missouri and a graduate of Stoutland High School. Sergeant Arnold was appointed to the Highway Patrol on November 1, 1994 and upon his graduation from the academy was stationed in Troop F at Booneville. In October of 1997 Sgt. Arnold transferred to Laclede County in Troop I. In October of 2002 he was promoted to corporal and transferred to Zone 1 in Rolla. Sergeant Arnold has served as a military policeman in the army and holds an associate of arts degree in Criminal Justice from Central Texas College. Prior to Sgt. Arnold’s appointment to the patrol he was a police officer with the Osage Beach Police Department. Sergeant Arnold is married to the former Kristi Brandt and they have three children, Kelsi, Kori and Gage.



Corporal Mark D.Ward will also be promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be designated the zone commander of Zone 3 in Crawford County. Sergeant Ward is a native of Tempe, Arizona and a graduate of Tempe High School. After eight years of service in the U.S. Army, where he served as a military police officer, Sergeant Ward was appointed to the Highway Patrol on July 1, 1996. Upon his graduation from the academy, he was assigned to Troop I, Zone 3 and stationed in Cuba. In May of 1999 he transferred within troop to Zone 4, Pulaski County, where he was promoted to the rank of corporal on August 3, 2003 and designated as the assistant zone commander. Sergeant Ward is married to the former Amber Carrell, and they have four children, Mark Jr., Amanda, Joshua and Jacob.



Trooper Christine A. Bogart will be promoted to the rank of corporal and will be designated the assistant zone commander of Zone 3 in Crawford County. Corporal Bogart is a native of Greenfield Massachusetts and a graduate of Greenfield High School and Truman State University, where she obtained a bachelor of science degree in Criminal Justice. Corporal Bogart served as a Sedalia Missouri Police Officer prior to her appointment to the Highway Patrol on July 1, 1994. Upon her graduation from the academy, Corporal Bogart was assigned to Benton County in Troop A. In July 1997 she transferred to Pulaski County in Troop I. In 2000 Corporal Bogart transferred to Crawford County and then back to Pulaski County in 2002. Corporal Bogart and her husband Joe have one child, Jonathan.



Trooper Dottie E. Taylor will also be promoted to the rank of corporal and designated the assistant commander of Zone 4 in Pulaski County. Corporal Taylor is a native of St. James and a graduate of St. James High School. Corporal Taylor holds an associate of arts degree in Criminal Justice and will obtain her bachelor of science degree in May. Corporal Taylor’s career with the Highway Patrol began when she was hired as a Troop I Telecommunicator in 1997. Two years later, in July of 1999, she was appointed and began training at the Highway Patrol Academy for the trooper position. Upon her graduation she was assigned back to Troop I and stationed in Pulaski County. In January of 2002 she transferred to Zone 2, which is responsible for Phelps and Maries Counties. Corporal Taylor and her husband Bruce are the parents of two children, Tony and Missy.



Captain Becker also announced the lateral transfer of Corporal Jason J. Whitt from Zone 3, Crawford County to Zone 1, Phelps and Maries Counties, where he will be designated as an assistant zone commander. Corporal Whitt is a native of St. Joseph, Missouri and a graduate of South Harrison R-III in Bethany. Corporal Whitt also attended Central Missouri State University, where he studied Criminal Justice. Corporal Whitt was appointed to the Highway Patrol in 1994 and was assigned to Troop I following his graduation. He was promoted to his current rank in 2000 and assigned to Crawford County. He and his wife Jennifer are the parents of two children, Hannah and August. (##)
