EMPHASIS: Troop E Announces Results Of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Program


Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, is pleased to announce the results of a Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program SAFETE operation, which is an enforcement program focusing on commercial motor vehicle violations. SAFETE was conducted on Wednesday, October 23, and Tuesday, October 29, 2013, in Cape Girardeau County. During the 10-hour project, five troopers focused their enforcement activities on hazardous operations of commercial motor vehicles. Totals from this operation include:

14 -- Speed summonses
19 -- Seat belt summonses
6 -- Commercial motor vehicle arrests
4 -- Non-moving violations
5 -- No driver’s license/driving while revoked or suspended
2 -- Out-of-service drivers
2 -- Out-of-service vehicles
9 -- Commercial motor vehicle inspections
46 -- Warnings

Captain Ridens said, “Enforcement of commercial motor vehicle laws and regulations is critical to the safety of the motoring public. Please assist us in our efforts by reporting careless drivers and other suspicious activities on Missouri’s roadways.”

The Missouri State Highway Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
