EMPHASIS: Troop I To Host Open House On October 3, 2009
Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, would like to invite the public to an open house at Troop I Headquarters on Saturday, October 3, 2009. Troop I is located on Missouri Route E in Rolla, approximately 1/4 mile north of the Interstate 44 interchange.
Troop I will open its doors to the public from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and will provide displays, safety demonstrations, and the opportunity to tour the Troop I facility. Some of these displays will include the Highway Patrol's state-of-the-art Mobile Command Unit, Highway Patrol motorcycles, and a Patrol helicopter. Highway Patrol vehicles, such as a 1959 Dodge, and a "Bearcat" armored personnel carrier used by SWAT team members, also will be available for the public to view. Seat belt safety demonstrations will be given using the rollover simulator and the seat belt convincer. As a courtesy for those in attendance, Troop I will provide free hamburgers, hotdogs, and drinks.
Captain Kenley stated, "I look forward to showcasing our facilities and some of the equipment our troopers use to help make our state a safer place. While visiting, I would also encourage anyone who might have an interest in the Patrol as a career to visit with a trooper and learn more about the many opportunities and benefits we have to offer."
