EMPHASIS: Skidmore, MO, Man Charged With Murder

On April 18, 2026, the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC) to investigate a reported double homicide at a residence near the intersection of MO Highway 46 and Route PP, north of Skidmore, MO. Upon law enforcement arrival, authorities located two female subjects deceased at the residence by apparent gunshots. The deceased were identified as Liberty A. Moore, 32, of Maryville, MO, and Karen M. Babcock, 58, of Skidmore, MO. A person of interest was taken into custody at the scene by the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office.

On April 19, 2026, DDCC investigators submitted a probable cause statement for formal charges to Nodaway County Prosecuting Attorney, Tina Deiter. Keevin J. Maupin, 20, of Skidmore, MO, was charged in Nodaway County with two counts of Murder 1st-Degree, and two counts of Armed Criminal Action. He is being held in the Nodaway County Jail without bond.

DDCC would like to thank the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the investigation and arrest of Maupin.

The charges for which the above individual was arrested are a mere accusation and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
