EMPHASIS: Homicide Investigation
Captain Kyle Marquart, director of the Division of Drug and Crime Control, announces the arrest of Farrell W. Cross for the 1991 homicide of Tammy Jo Cross.
On Wednesday, September 22, 2010, officers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Farrell W. Cross, 70, at his rural Phelps County residence for the murder of his ex-wife, Tammy Jo Cross. Tammy Cross was shot and killed on or about February 2, 1991. Her body was later discovered near a rural Phelps County forestry service road. The crime was investigated jointly by the Phelps County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol in 1991. A continuation of the cold case homicide investigation conducted by members of the Troop I Division of Drug and Crime Control Unit resulted in new information leading to the arrest.
The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
