EMPHASIS: Troop I Residents Complete Community Alliance Program
On October 20, 2009, Troop I Headquarters of the Missouri State Highway Patrol completed its fifth Community Alliance Program (citizen’s academy). This program was a unique opportunity for residents from throughout the Troop I area to gain insight and a better perspective of the training and duties experienced by officers of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The program was conducted at Troop I Headquarters and consisted of five, three-hour training sessions held on consecutive Tuesday evenings during the months of September and October. Participants received classroom and practical instruction on various topics such as firearms, stopping and approaching vehicles, traffic crash investigations, criminal investigations, and driving while intoxicated enforcement.
Upon their completion of the academy, Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, presented each citizen with a plaque as a memento of their efforts and willingness to participate in this program. A dinner was provided at Troop I for the participants and their spouses on the final evening to help celebrate the occasion.
