EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Checkpoint In Jackson County On May 7, 2010, And Cass County DWI Saturation Results
Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted on Friday evening, May 7, 2010. The checkpoint was a joint effort with the Kansas City Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. The checkpoint was located on Southwest Trafficway and 39th Street. The location was determined by past arrests, incidents, and traffic crashes in the county.
A total of 757 cars were checked during this five-hour operation and members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department, and Jackson County Sheriff's Department made the following arrests:
22 -- DWI
3 -- driver’s license summonses
5 -- hazardous moving summonses
5 -- misdemeanor warrants
2 -- misdemeanor drug arrests
5 -- non-moving summonses
1 -- minor in possession summons
52 -- warnings
On May 7, 2010, four officers conducted a DWI saturation focusing their attention on all major routes in Cass County. As a result of the eight-hour operation, two people were arrested for driving while intoxicated, and 18 citations and 56 warnings were issued.
Captain Powell stated, "Our officers are working hard to make the roadways safer for the motoring public. Remember to do your part. If you are going to drink, please do not drive."
