EMPHASIS: Drug Investigation
Captain Luke Vislay, director of the Division of Drug and Crime Control, announces the results of a short-term joint narcotics investigation in Pulaski County.
As a result of a drug investigation by members of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department and the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group, a search warrant was served at a residence located at 12125 Highway Y, St. Robert. During the search of this residence officers seized approximately 20 grams of a powder substance believed to be heroin, various items of drug paraphernalia, and stolen electronic items. Arrested at the scene for various drug-related offenses were the following individuals: Roosevelt Overton Sr., 46, of St. Robert; John Bennett, 43, of St. Robert; Shannon Vanderhoof, 20, of Laquey; and Jobe Scott, 46 of Chicago, IL. Roosevelt Overton was later formally charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $30,000. The other individuals were released later on a summons to appear in court.
Narcotics officers assigned to the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group are aware of an increase in the availability of heroin in the Pulaski County area and are working with local agencies to target this trend.
The Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group is a multi-jurisdictional drug task force. Its members include the sheriff’s departments of Pulaski, Laclede, Camden, Dallas, Gasconade, and Crawford counties, as well as the Lebanon and Osage Beach police departments. LANEG is governed by a board of directors and is coordinated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
