EMPHASIS: Two Dead After Shooting In Winfield, MO
At 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2011, Garey Fain, 55, of rural Foley, MO, shot and wounded his roommate, Earl Wayne Bender, 55, with a handgun after a domestic disturbance. Fain then drove to the residence of his ex-wife, Liza Fain, 33, of Winfield, MO, where he used force to gain entry through the door and entered the residence. At approximately 10:10 p.m., Fain shot and wounded Joseph Michael Klos, 24, of Winfield, MO, then went to the bedroom and shot his ex-wife. During this time, an officer with the Winfield Police Department arrived at the residence and confronted Fain as he exited the residence wielding a handgun and raising it in a threatening manner. Fain failed to comply with the demands of the Winfield officer and was shot.
Klos was transported to St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles, by the Lincoln County Ambulance District, where he is being treated for serious injuries. Bender was transported by private conveyance to Lincoln County Memorial Hospital and later transferred to St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles, where he is being treated for serious injuries. Liza Fain was flown to St. Johns Mercy Hospital by Air-Evac where she was treated for serious injuries. At 12:03 a.m. she was pronounced dead by Dr. Brian Ullery. Garey Fain was transported to the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. At 11:58 p.m., he was pronounced dead by Dr. Sherry Dobner.
